Planning a Destination Wedding in Sri Lanka
Why Sri Lanka is Perfect for Destination Weddings
It is close. Colombo is around a 1.5 hour flight from Chennai and roughly 3.5 hours from Delhi. Your guests travel in a morning, not a full day, and visa processing for Indian passport holders is straightforward.
It is varied. Within a short stretch of coast and hill country you have beach weddings at Bentota and Negombo, colonial heritage venues around Galle and Colombo, and tea estate settings near Kandy. Couples who want two completely different looks across a three day celebration can have both without long transfers between them.
It is good value. For most Indian couples a Sri Lanka wedding costs less per guest than an equivalent celebration in Goa or Rajasthan, mainly because five star accommodation and catering cost less on the island.
Our selected Wedding Venues in Sri Lanka cover all three styles across Bentota, Galle, Colombo, Negombo, Kandy and Kalutara.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which are the best Wedding Venues in Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka’s wedding venues fall into three groups.
Beach resorts in Bentota, Negombo and Kalutara suit large outdoor celebrations where most guests stay on site.
Heritage properties around Galle and Colombo suit smaller, design-led weddings in colonial buildings.
Hill country estates near Kandy and Nuwara Eliya offer cooler weather and tea plantation views, and work well as a second venue for a pre-wedding event.
Most couples we work with choose a beach resort for the main day and add one heritage or hill venue for the mehendi or sangeet. Browse our Top Wedding Hotels to compare.
How much does a Destination Wedding in Sri Lanka cost?
Cost is driven by your guest count, the number of days, and whether guests stay at the venue itself.
Beach resorts are the most affordable option. Five star resorts sit in the middle. Heritage properties and private villas are the most expensive per guest, and suit smaller celebrations.
Our quotes cover venue, accommodation, all meals, décor, photography, entertainment, transfers and coordination. Flights and visas are separate.
For most Indian couples, a Sri Lanka wedding works out lower per guest than an equivalent wedding in Goa or Rajasthan. Send us your guest count and dates and we will send an actual breakdown.
Which destinations are most popular for weddings in Sri Lanka?
Negombo is closest to Bandaranaike International Airport, usually around 20 to 30 minutes, which makes it the practical choice when guests are arriving across a wide window of flights.
Galle suits couples wanting colonial architecture and smaller numbers. Colombo works for city celebrations and easy guest access. Kalutara, Kandy, Mirissa and Weligama are all regular choices depending on the look you want.

Can you help us choose the right wedding hotel?
Yes, and it is usually the first thing we do.
We shortlist venues against your guest count, your budget and whether you want everyone staying on site. We tell you which properties genuinely hold your numbers rather than the capacity on their brochure.
The real constraint is almost always room count, not banquet space. A wedding where 200 guests all stay at the venue needs roughly 100 rooms, which rules out several properties that look large on paper.
How many days should a Sri Lanka destination wedding be?
Three days is the most common, and it is the length most venues are set up for.
Day one is arrival and a welcome dinner. Day two is the main ceremony and reception. Day three is a relaxed farewell brunch before afternoon flights.
Two days works if most guests are flying in from India and can arrive the morning before. Four or more days is usually chosen by couples running a separate mehendi or sangeet at a second venue.
